Manchester United have named their team to face Aston Villa tonight.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to take his team’s Premier League form seriously with another strong side.
In the build-up to the game, Solskjaer had discussed the potential to rotate his midfield options.
“I think Scott is obviously still a young boy,” Solskjaer said. “He’s seven or eight years younger than Nemanja [Matic] and Nemanja has been on record saying that he sees himself in Scott, so the two can bounce off each other. It’s never easy. I’ve told Nemanja before that Scott is going to play and he’s alright, because he rates him and vice versa. I’m sure Scotty can learn a lot from Nemanja. The way he’s gone about his job in the last few seasons here has been good.”
With Southampton on Monday and an FA Cup semi-final to follow, there is a temptation for Solskjaer to rotate his squad, but the United boss insists all of the players have played their part and he has no concerns about the freshness should he need to change things up.
“There are not many that haven’t played in the last two weeks,” Ole told ManUtd.com. “They all know they’re fit and available, that they’re valued. It’s not an issue. There are so many things to play for. Trophies – the FA Cup, the Europa League – but also the top four in the league. The group is very tight-knit and they all know they’ve got a part to play.”
Despite this, Solskjaer has resisted the temptation to make wholesale changes, and United will attempt to strengthen their impressive record at Villa Park.
The game is live on Sky Sports in the UK and kicks off at 8:15pm.
