Manchester United have named their team to face Southampton in tonight’s crucial Premier League game.
The Saints travel to Old Trafford in good form and United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted he might keep an unchanged team for the fifth league game in a row.
“There’s so many things you have to consider when you manage a team,” Ole said in his pre-match press conference. “We’ve got players here champing at the bit, but also those that are in the rhythm. There are loads of decisions to be made, but they make it easier by playing and performing well. If we don’t get too many injuries, there’s no reason to change too much when you’re doing well.”
Solskjaer is aware of the threat posed by tonight’s opponent.
“They’ve done excellently,” he told ManUtd.com. “I watched the game against Man City which was an excellent 1-0 win against them. They’re a high energy, direct team… [they play] very physical and demanding football so it’ll be an exciting game. We drew 1-1 with them down there [at St Mary’s] and we know we have to play to our best to get results. Hopefully we can carry on what we’re doing… there are so many games in such a short space of time and anything can happen. You can have a bad day or a bad decision against you, so we have to be ready for everything and I feel our players are. We know that we have to earn the right to win, especially against teams that make it difficult for you with a fantastic shape and the way they’re working together. We’ll have to earn a good performances and hopefully that will get us a result.”
United are boosted by the fact there are no new injuries other than Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe.
