Manchester United have named their team for tonight’s game at AC Milan.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer paid tribute to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is back from injury for the Italian side tonight.
“He’s had a tremendous career, winning trophies everywhere he’s been,” said the United boss. “He’s been an influence and had an impact everywhere he’s been and a role model for so many. Playing at his age, at the level he is at, is also being a role model and being Zlatan. He’s never, ever stopped surprising or impressing people. Even just being back in the Swedish national team for the Euros just shows the hunger he has for football.”
Concentrating on his own team, Solskjaer confirmed there are returnees for United too, though Cavani and Bailly will miss out.
“We are happy to have Donny back, Paul and David,” he said. “Big players. Unfortunately, it looks like Edinson has got a bit of a reaction to training and didn’t feel ready to travel. Eric is being assessed. He didn’t train this morning.”
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford – who has struggled himself with injuries of late – spoke about how the season is reaching a critical stage.
“This is the business end of the season, the bit that’s going to determine whether we go on to win trophies or not,” he said. “So everyone is mentally prepared for this next period. I think we’ll go there to score goals and to win the game and we see it as a game for what it is. Basically, right now, it’s a one-off game and whoever scores goals is going to go through. We’ll go there with that mentality.”
