I’m excited to share information of a brand new series coming to you exclusively to TalkOfTheDevils.
Fans of the popular podcast and radio show ‘Barclay and Barton on Manchester United’ will hopefully be happy to hear and read that a new series is returning from Thursday, November 18th – A Complete History Of Manchester United, brought to you by legendary football journalist Paddy Barclay and me, author and producer Wayne Barton.
This is a series that is going to do exactly what it says on the tin. It is going to be the most comprehensive record of Manchester United history available online in narrated format – hours and hours of information, brought to you season by season, player by player, blow by blow.
The series will begin from the birth of the modern Manchester United – the hiring of Matt Busby, and the foundations and groundwork that was laid prior to his arrival at the club.
From that point, Paddy and I will journey through each season per episode, bringing you a complete run down of the key events, big moments, untold stories, squad statistics and tactics and other trivia.
Ever heard the story of how United brought the FA Cup back to James Gibson in 1948? This teaser gives an insight :
Want to know just how good Jack Rowley was, or what kind of character Johnny Morris was? This show will bring you a player-by-player insight with descriptions and stories that will bring United history to life.
Interested to know what ‘the United way’ is? Was it always 4-4-2? We’re here to take you through that journey, through the evolution of tactics, how Busby embraced and moved through the times, and how his successors brought their own ideas to the table. What was the old centre-back? Outside-right? Where could Duncan Edwards play? All of these details are going to be explained in forensic detail.
This new series will begin with a feature length episode on Busby’s arrival at the club, next Thursday on our YouTube channel.
Subscribe here to make sure you don’t miss it. The podcast will also be available in audio format on all major platforms.
